We are having an interesting discussion within the OIC on a thread that I started.

I suspect that the concrete plot to kill Kennedy surfaced in the rogue CIA operation that orchestrated the anti-Castro action which, which involved failed attempts to kill Castro and culminated in the failed Bay of Pigs, hence: Dulles, Bush, William Harvey, etc.

Ever the scriptwriter, I decided to compose a conversation between Allen Dulles (or a representative of his) and Lyndon Johnson, perhaps strolling along the Pedernales River on the Johnson estate in the beautiful Texas Hill Country.

It's a gorgeous spot; I've been there. Look at those lush pecan trees. For a public servant, LBJ lived well.

Whoever it was that talked to him, he had to speak in code until he was sure Johnson could be counted on.

"Mr. Vice President, I, and others in the national security arena, are convinced that our nation is in great peril at the hands of the current Commander in Chief. His reckless actions in regard to Cuba and the Soviet Union, and his threat to abandon our allies in Vietnam, have endangered the national security of this country. There is a strong, growing, and widely-held belief that his recent actions amount to treason. The normal course of action in this situation would be to pursue impeachment, but that would be a very high hurdle, because, as I'm sure you realize, he is immensely popular, and so is his wife. But, we are loyal Americans who love this country, and we will do whatever it takes to protect the United States of America. What we want to know, at this time, is if YOU share our concern about the dire and dangerous state of executive leadership in this country and would be willing to support drastic action- and I do mean extreme measures- to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States and its people. We consider this a moment of national crisis, national emergency, and pending disaster of unparalleled, unequaled, and unprecedented proportion. Do you agree with us or not?"
