What I don't understand is: why would the mother put herself in front and the 11 year old girl behind?


You want the kid to have the best view, right? Plus, wouldn't the mother feel safer about the whole situation of being perched on that rather high pedestal if she were behind with her arms going around the daughter, securing her, rather than vice versa? It seems unimaginable that she would do it as it appears.

But, what if they started by facing Houston Street as the limo was coming down that street from Main. Is it possible that they just turned with the limo as it turned and wound up in the position that we see them? 

Hmm. Well then, we should see them at the beginning of the film then, right? I'll check.
