But, as you know, it was very crowded in the basement. So, why wouldn't Ruby remember it that way? BECAUSE IT WASN'T THAT CROWDED WHEN HE WAS THERE.
You've heard of the pre-autopsy of JFK's body, right? Well, there was a pre-spectacle in the garage that must have occurred an hour or so before the televised one. The pre-spectacle is the one that involved Jack Ruby. He said in his WC testimony that he was at the WU at 10:15. Somebody corrected him immediately, but you should stop thinking that he was wrong.
And undoubtedly, they did this under cover- under the radar. They had the reporters and press photographers squirreled off somewhere- Robert Jackson said the 3rd floor press room. But still, they must have done it with a minimum number of people to not attract attention. So, the basement wasn't crowded when Ruby was there, but it was very crowded at the televised spectacle.
The filming in the garage only starting a few minutes before the show began. They were still wheeling cameras into the basement, and that tells you that they weren't there a half hour before, let alone an hour before. And that is when Ruby had his spectacle with the Dallas Police.
God, did Ruby's lawyers ever fail him. They, like almost everyone else, were completely bamboozled. But, I am heartened to know that somebody wrote to the Dallas Police shortly after the shooting to tell them that "that guy wasn't Ruby." He really wasn't.
