Rufus Youngblood lied when he said that he climbed in back and got on top of Lyin' Lyndon Johnson. Senator Ralph Yarborough said he lied. Yarborough said that it was a small space, and it wasn't physically possible for Johnson to be lying on the floor with Youngblood on top of him (both huge men) and him and Mrs. Johnson to be seated back there, with their legs extending into that space.
Weeks later, Johnson actually held a ceremony at the White House to honor Youngblood for doing that. Youngblood also got promoted and was given a pay raise. But, Senator Ralph Yarborough, who was in the car, denied that it ever happened. He denied that Youngblood ever left his seat.
Now listen, you bloodied bastards: this is what Senator Yarborough said, his exact words:
"It just didn't happen.... It was a small car, Johnson was a big man, tall. His knees were up against his chin as it was. There was no room for that to happen." Senator Ralph Yarborough
And it doesn't make a lick of sense. Youngblood said that he heard an explosion and didn't know if it was a gunshot, firecracker, bomb, or "other explosion". His mind actually went through that list? Then, according to him:
"I looked at whatever I could quickly survey, and could not see anything which would indicate the origin of this noise."
Well, he must have turned around to do that, right? The shot came from the rear, didn't it? I'm talking about the first shot.
"I noticed that the movements in the Presidential car were very abnormal and, at practically the same time, the movements in the Presidential follow-up car were abnormal."
What did he mean by 'abnormal'? The only way that the car movements were abnormal is that they extremely slowed. But, why not say it? It's not as though there was any swerving.
"I turned in my seat and with my left arm grasped and shoved the Vice President, at his right shoulder, down and toward Mrs. Johnson and Senator Yarborough. At the same time, I shouted "get down!" I believe I said this more than once and directed it to the Vice President and the other occupants of the rear seat. They all responded very rapidly."
Then, why did he have to go back there and get on top Johnson? Why did Johnson need Yarborough on top of him in order to stay down? Couldn't he stay down of his own accord?
"I quickly looked all around again and could see nothing to shoot at..."
Why did he mention shooting? Did he take his gun out? Was he toting? Did he have a gun in his hand? Because if not, why refer to shooting?
"...so I stepped over into the back seat and sat on top of the Vice President. I sat in a crouched position and issued orders to the driver. During this time, I heard two more explosion noises..."
What? He "stepped" over? He would have had to have been standing to step over. So, was he standing in the front seat? At 6'5" he was standing in the front seat and no one noticed? Or, did he just use the wrong verb? Did he mean to say that he crawled over, or climbed over?
He said he sat in a crouched position? Did he mean on Johnson? That he was sitting on Johnson? So, Lady Bird and Yarborough were in their seats; Lyin' Lyndon was lying across the floor of the car; and then Youngblood was sitting, crouched, on top of him. Is that the story?
What do you think would have happened if we tried to reenact that?
And he issued "orders" to the driver? Not just an order but orders? What could he have ordered him to do? "Follow those cars!" Wasn't he going to do that anyway?
And what was the second order?
"I am not sure that I was on top of the Vice President before the second shot--he says I was."
How could all of that happen before the second shot?
"In my crouched position, I observed the people on the streets to scatter; heard some shouts; saw the motorcade increase speed, and I knew we were making a rapid evacuation."
A rapid evacuation? A RAPID EVACUATION? A rapid evacuation would have been if they responded by accelerating immediately after the first shot. That would have been a rapid evacuation. Instead, they slowed to a crawl if not a complete stop.
"I could also see the agents in the Presidential follow-up car waving our car to come up close, and I told our driver to stay as close and go as fast as he could without having a wreck."
Why? What for? They were actually worried about you staying close to them? For what reason? For what purpose?
"This driver wasn't talkative and he wasn't excitable. He responded to everything I said. He did an excellent job."
What? You told him to drive, which was something he was going to do anyway. Maybe we should have a ceremony for him too.
"During this ride to the hospital, I had some brief conversations with the Vice President and Senator Yarborough in response to their questions. I told the Vice President that the President must have been shot or wounded, but I did not know his condition. I told the Vice President and Mrs. Johnson to follow me and the agents as closely and quickly as possible when we got to our destination. They agreed to do this."
Shot or wounded? What were you distinguishing? What wound could it have been other than from a shot? And then you meant only for Johnson and Lady Bird to follow you and the agents? What about Yarborough? "Senator, you're on your own." Was that it?
Look, his whole statement, which was made on November 29, was just a pile of horse shit. He was just dissembling. It was a "dog ate my homework" explanation. Rufus Youngblood was lying. And he was a nervous liar, which is obvious from the way he told his stupid story.
LBJ took cover before the first shot, and he left his wife exposed. The concept of "women and children first" never dawned on him. You only have to look at the picture in which you can see Johnson MIA and Rufus Youngblood in his seat.
