Poor Doctor Norwood.

He's supposed to be a Professor, but Physics isn't his thing.

Neither is English Grammar.

Niether is Elementary Mathematics, which is to say: Simple Arithmetic.

He can't even count to 3. And that's what you get when you add Frazier, Arce, and Baker: the three people who were shown the Altgens photo and asked to identify the man in the doorway and said he was Lovelady.

Lovelady was never asked. The man in the doorway was never pointed out to Lovelady verbally- although they did hand him a photo which had a big arrow pointing to Doorman. You think it was supposed to be a hint?

And when he finished drawing his arrow, neither he nor Joseph Ball articulated to whom it was drawn. Again: the man in the doorway was never mentioned.

So, you can't count Lovelady. He's not a card in your hand.

And frankly, one of the three, Baker, was rather reticent about it in my opinion. She kept saying repeatedly that it "looks like Billy Lovelady."

Looks like? To my ears, that sounds like leaving the door open that it might be someone other than Billy who looks like him.

So, why'd they go with her at all? I mean: Mrs. Donald Baker? And what in tarnation was wrong with women back then that they used their husband's first name as their own? Look at this:

Mr. LIEBELER: Would you state your full name for the record, please?
Mrs. BAKER: Mrs. Donald Baker.

Mr. LIEBELER: I take it your parents were hoping for a son.

Of course, that last line isn't real; I made it up. But hey, if you can't laugh at this stuff, what's the point?  I guess she really thought of herself as one of her husband's ribs, like in the Bible. But, I digress.

Mr. LIEBELER. Do you know Billy Lovelady?
Mrs. BAKER. Yes, sir.
Mr. LIEBELER. I show you Commission Exhibit No. 203, and I call your attention to a man standing in the doorway of the Texas School Book Depository Building?
Mrs. BAKER. Yes.
Mr. LIEBELER. Do you recognize him?
Mrs. BAKER. That looks like Billy.
Mr. LIEBELER. That looks like Billy Lovelady?
Mrs. BAKER. Yes.
Mr. LIEBELER. And that man you pointed to is immediately as we face the picture to the right of the mark "A" in the picture?
Mrs. BAKER. Yes.
Mr. LIEBELER. And is standing directly against the side of the doorway of the building---of the Texas School Book Depository Building?
Mrs. BAKER. Yes.
Mr. LIEBELER. Thank you. If you don't have anything else you would like to tell us about this that you think we should know and that I haven't asked you, I have no other questions at this point.
Mrs. BAKER. Thank you.

Notice how Liebeler zeroed in on who they were talking about. He clarified and asked her to confirm. He wanted a verbal recognition that they were talking about the Doorway Man, the controversial figure in the Altgens photo. And Joseph Ball did the exact same thing with Frazier and Arce. But, Ball did NOT do it with Lovelady.

Now, why didn't he do it? How come there was no verbal confirmation? BECAUSE LOVELADY DREW HIS ARROW TO ANOTHER FIGURE!

Mr. BALL - Take a pen or pencil and mark an arrow where you are.
Mr. LOVELADY - Where I thought the shots are?
Mr. BALL - No; you in the picture.
Mr. LOVELADY - Oh, here (indicating).
Mr. BALL - Draw an arrow down to that; do it in the dark. You got an arrow in the dark and one in the white pointing toward you. Where were you when the picture was taken?
Mr. LOVELADY - Right there at the entrance of the building standing on the the step, would be here (indicating).
Mr. BALL - You were standing on which step?
Mr. LOVELADY - It would be your top level.
Mr. BALL - The top step you were standing there?
Mr. LOVELADY - Right.
Mr. BALL - Now, when Gloria came up you were standing near Mr. Shelley?

What a difference, eh? That's what you call changing the subject fast. Joseph Ball segued into a seque, sequaciously. He did not want to linger. It was time to move on. And that's because:

Lovelady did NOT deliver
He drew his arrow to another fig-'er.
