It was Postal Inspector Harry Holmes who said that P.O. Box 2915 was closed on May 14.
Mr. HOLMES. That is a photostatic copy of the original box rental application covering the rental of box 2915, at the main post office in Dallas, Tex. which shows that it was completed on October the 9th, 1962. The applicants name was Lee H. Oswald, home address, 3519 Fairmore Avenue, Dallas, Tex. Signed Lee H. Oswald. It shows that the box was closed on May 14, 1963.
May 14? It's a little more than 7 months from October 9 to May 14. It's 5 days more than 7 months, to be exact. But, Oswald could have rented the box for 7 months and 5 days. So, that means it could not have expired automatically. If it was closed on May 14, then Oswald closed it. However, he couldn't because he was in New Orleans.
Holmes must not have known that Oswald moved to New Orleans on April 24. Either that, or whoever devised the story didn't realize it. The left hand didn't know what the right hand was doing.
We see this a lot in the JFK assassination. For instance, they made that phony clip of Lovelady outside the TSBD 15 minutes after the shooting, but it was at a time that Lovelady wasn't there. By his account, he left right away for the railway yard, accompanied by Bill Shelley. Again: the left hand didn't know what the right hand was doing.
