So, Oswald moved to New Orleans by bus. He went there seeking work, right? I wonder how he got the idea that he had better prospects in New Orleans than Dallas? Why would he think that? Dallas was bigger, especially when you consider the whole Metroplex, as they call it. I mean, it would be one thing if he moved down there for a specific job that he arranged from Dallas. But, to just assume that he would be more likely to find work there than Dallas? And especially him because he was essentially an unskilled worker, right? A minimum wage worker?

So, he's moving to Dallas, and he can only take what he is able to carry on the bus. So, he decides to take his rifle? His rifle? What for? He wasn't going to go hunting. He didn't have plans to shoot anybody in New Orleans, that we know of. So, why take the rifle?

Even though the job didn't turn out to be permanent, he didn't know that at the time. Maybe he would have landed a job that he could have held onto for years. He worked 3 years at the same radio factory in Russia. Doesn't it seem like clothes and personal items and books would have more than overloaded him? Why take a rifle? From a practical point of view, I am asking: why take a rifle? What did he need it for down there? What evidence is there that he ever did anything with it down there?
