How could anyone compare this:
to this?
We have all been looking at the effect of direct light on objects all our lives, and we know how it works. But in the case of the Jackson photo, there is only diffuse light, not direct light. And the difference is not a subtle difference in the shade of the same color but an entirely different color. And, we can say that even though it is a black and white photo because of the magnitude of the change, the sharpness of the change, and the absence of anything but regular, diffuse, ambient light.
And while we're at it, let's look at the whole issue of Jack Ruby wearing a fedora hat. There are very few images of him wearing one except on 11/24/63. The only one I could find is this one:
This tells me that Jack Ruby did not wear a fedora hat the way some men did back then: which was every time they went out. And note that the "Jack Ruby" at both the Friday afternoon PD and the Friday evening PD had no hat. We disavow the one from the afternoon (as did Ruby) and we're not sure about the evening one either. I'll qualify that: there is no doubt that Ruby went to the PD that night and was there at the time of the MPC. But, his stated purpose was to see about the sandwiches he had ordered for the detectives and to talk to someone from some radio station. The claim that he went to the PD Friday night to stalk Oswald is false.
But, regardless of his purpose, he, apparently, wasn't wearing a hat.
However, Bookhout HAD to wear a hat. He had no choice. He could NEVER pass for Jack Ruby without covering his head. A hat is a VERY effective disguise. I was told once that when Johnny Carson went on vacations and was out in public, that he would just wear a wool cap on his head. That's all he had to do to avoid being recognized.
So, to make their plan work, Ruby absolutely HAD to wear a hat that day, and I'm sure they didn't leave it up to chance. I've mentioned many times that I believe that the steering of Ruby to the garage depended on administering to him a suggestibility drug, probably scopolamine. So, if they got him to ingest it at his apartment that morning, then, if George Senator said, "Jack, you really ought to wear your hat" Ruby would have done it.
Amy Joyce had no trouble finding images of fedora hats with complex, multi-colored ribbons. This first one reportedly belonged to Jack Ruby.
This one looks much like the one Bookhout wore:
So, it may very well be that what we see in the Jackson photo is what Bookhout wore.
But, regardless of the how and what of it, Amy is the first one to have noticed that feature, and it is definitely not present on the hat that has been showcased as the one Jack Ruby wore.
