Oswald in the doorway: the blog of the Oswald Innocence Campaign, by Ralph Cinque

OIC member Adam Steel from England sent me this, and it's very useful. So, Baker saw Oswald in the vestibule through that small window in the door. And Oswald was moving at the time. So, it was probably just a very fleeting glimpse. The lunch room was to the left, as we look at that picture. So, if Oswald had entered through that very door just seconds before (assuming he came down from the 6th floor), then, first, the door itself might still be moving. But, since Oswald would have gone left right away, it's highly unlikely that he would have been visible to Baker through the glass. He would have passed out of sight immediately. The only thing that makes this work is if Oswald entered the vestibule from the other side, the office side. And if he did that, then it means that he came up from the first floor, using the ornate stairs next to the doorway.

  
And note that he definitely went down that way, and that's the reason he passed Mrs. Reid as he was walking through the office area with his Coke. He simply reversed his steps.

I don't know if this arrangement still exists the way it did then, and I fear that it doesn't. But, if it does, then it could easily be tested. I maintain that it's much more likely that Oswald would be visible to Baker if he entered from the office side. Considering how small that ante-room was and the fact that Oswald was just passing through it, he couldn't have entered it more than a second or so before Baker saw him. And that, again, means that the door he used would probably still be in motion. Baker's door wasn't. Plus, as I said, I think Oswald would have passed out of Baker's view immediately if he had used the door through which Baker was looking. The angle had to be pretty sharp going that way. I take this as evidence that Oswald came up from the 1st floor. And this alone exonerates him. 

Considering how little ahead of Baker Oswald was, they both essentially reached the lunch room at the same time, but Oswald was a few steps ahead of Baker. He had a slight lead on him. But, the lead wasn't great enough that, coming down from the 6th floor, Baker and Truly wouldn't have heard him. And what about Truly? He was ahead of Baker, which means that he was probably about even with Oswald in terms of reaching the lunch room. So, if Oswald had come down from the 6th floor, he probably would have reached the lunch room the same time that Truly reached it up from the first floor. The idea that he wouldn't have seen him or heard him is preposterous. 

Oswald did NOT come down from the 6th floor. He went up from the 1st floor. And prior to that, he was standing in the doorway. That's the reason he used that staircase because he was near to it.
