Thursday was the 25th anniversary of the siege at Waco. Did you know that the CS tear gas used at the Davidian Compound is and was a banned chemical weapon? It was already outlawed for use in war. If you used it in war, you were committing a war crime. But they, the FBI and the ATF, used it against women and children at Waco.
Attorney General Janet Reno testified that she was unaware of the existing international ban on CS gas when she approved the FBI's April 17, 1993 request to use it in Waco.
Keep in mind that CS gas, which was developed by the British in the 1950s and intended for police riot control (although the US used it extensively in Vietnam in the 60s and 70s) it was NEVER meant for indoor use. There were warnings all over the canisters that you don't use it indoors. It was strictly prohibited. But, they did it anyway.
25 children died at Waco. 82 died in total.
As for consequences to the perpetrators, FBI agents got off scot-free. Not one FBI agent received so much as a reprimand. Two ATF agents were fired. But, they were later reinstated.
