- Ralph Cinque His lawyer, Melvin Belli, claimed that he had "psychomotor epilepsy" but his autopsy showed that he did not have any kind of epilepsy. Belli came to that defense precisely because when he asked Ruby what happened, Ruby told him, "I don't know. I just went down there, then suddenly the cops were all over me. And then they told me I shot Oswald. But, I don't remember a thing. The sad thing is that Belli, like most Americans, was under the spell of Americana, the idea that something so corrupt as cops killing Oswald and framing the mentally inept Ruby can't happen in America. His mind just could go there out of warped patriotism.
