Johnny Mercer said that this was his favorite song. It's not one of his, and he wrote some brilliant songs. The song is from 1924, with music by Isham Jones and lyrics by Gus Kahn. So, it's almost 100 years old, yet, it sounds as fresh today as it did back then and no doubt will 100 years from now. It has a sparse simplicity to it, but, at the same time, a sheer elegance. It is a textbook example of perfect craftsmanship in songwriting. The song is: It Had To Be You. This is my own arrangement of it in G Major.
