Trump, apparently, realizes now that boots on the ground would involve a protracted engagement in Iran, and a very costly one, in terms of both money and American lives.

So, abruptly, he has changed his mind; saying that he is going to leave, even without a deal; that pretty soon he is just going to withdraw from the war and get out of there.

He said nothing about all the U.S. bases that Iran destroyed, and they have destroyed all of them in the Middle East. And the U.S. Media doesn't talk about the future of those bases either. And that's probably because they know that those bases are NOT coming back; that if we made any attempt to rebuild those bases, Iran would attack immediately. And it's not even clear that Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qater, etc. would allow the U.S. back in anyway. I should think they won't.

So, one of the effects of this war will be the end of U.S. hegemony in the Middle East. That is all over.

But, the hypocrisy and the duplicity of the United States goes on. Donald Trump is, first and foremost, a salesman, and now, he is trying to spin the effect of his disastrous, catastrophic, and demonic war. He's saying that the objectives have been met, even if he just leaves. That is a lie. The objective was regime change in Iran, which clearly is not going to happen. It was also to take out their nuclear program, and that hasn't happened either.  The other objectives he's listing, such as reducing their missile stockpile, was not a top objective. And yes, it's been reduced, but it got reduced by being fired at Israel and heaping severe destruction on them and on the Arab countries who were cooperating with us. Spinning that into a U.S. accomplishment is ridiculous. It's insane.

The U.S. has lost this war, and we have lost more than this war. As I said, the U.S. has lost its military presence in the Middle East, which is not coming back. They lost whatever little remaining respect the U.S. had in the world. Our identity now is that of a rogue nation that is a threat and menace to Mankind. Our entire moral authority has vanished. The only friendliness we are going to get from anyone, going forward, is a friendliness born of fear. And what that means is that we really don't have any friends left. Donald Trump has destroyed them all. Never has the United States been loathed more than it is loathed today.

As a result of this war, the whole world is going to move away from the U.S. dollar, and that was our biggest export. The use of the dollar is going to tumble internationally. Iran won't accept U.S. dollars any more for its oil. And the other oil producers in the region probably won't either. So, the value of the dollar is going to go down, and inflation is going to soar in the U.S. The U.S. economy is going to sink. The U.S. government deficits are going to exceed what they were during Covid. The U.S. national debt is going to rise rapidly above $40 trillion, and it won't take very long to get to $50 trillion. Social Security is going to reach a crisis point much sooner than forecast; within 4 years, and benefits will have to be cut. Inflation is going to get perilously bad.

Will Donald Trump complete his term? I doubt it. If I were going to bet, I would bet that he is going to be removed from office.

And if Donald Trump does what he is now saying he is going to do, which is leave the war zone in two weeks, the whole world will perceive it as an Iranian victory.  And Iran is going to rise like the Phoenix.

What is going to happen between Iran and Israel? They will keep fighting; trading attacks. But, if the U.S. leaves, the momentum will be with Iran; not Israel. Will Israel resort to a nuke? I wouldn't put it past them. It is a serious risk, but so is the risk that Iran will blow up Dimona.

I earnestly hope that Trump does leave the Persian Gulf in 2 weeks. It is not going to allay the repercussions of this disastrous war that are certain to weigh on us for many years to come, and perhaps decades.  But, staying and fighting longer will only make a very bad situation worse. Trump's and Israel's war on Iran is certainly one of the worst man-made disasters in human history, and few are assessing its long-term effects. But, they are going to be bad, and they are going to be lasting.

There is not going to be regime change in Iran, but there may be in the United States, and maybe in Israel too.
