It is widely accepted that the Moorman photo was taken AFTER the fatal head shot. Many lonenutters, and especially the late Vincent Bugliosi, have argued that the absence of a blow-out wound in the back of JFK's head in the Moorman photo proves that all the Parkland doctors and nurses were wrong who described such a wound.
The fatal head shot occurred at Zapruder frame 313, so if Moorman took her photo after that, it was taken Z-314 or later.
But, let's start earlier. Here is Z-293.
You can see that at Z-293, Mary has got her camera up, and she is picture-ready. Does she shoot? Not according to the official story.
Here's Z-298, and it's a good clean shot of Mary. We see that her camera is aimed right at the Kennedy's, and they are right in front of her. Does she shoot? Not according to the official story.
At Z-303, it's starting to get weird because Jack and Jackie have passed Mary; she's still got her camera up, and yet, she hasn't pivoted. To me, it looks like her left foot is slightly forward. But, if she pivoted to her left, her left left would swing backwards along the arc of a circle. In other words, her right foot would be the pivot point, and she was turn left by pivoting her left foot back. And if you really hone in on it, she really isn't centering on the Kennedys.
It doesn't look to me like she's aiming at the Kennedys.
OK, we're 10 frames away from the fatal head shot. Let's cover half the time.
I went with 307 rather than 308 because it was a sharper image. Again, to my eyes, she does not appear to be focusing on the Kennedys. She is not turned towards them, nor is her camera turned towards them.
Here is 310, and Mary is still NOT orienting her camera at the Kennedys. Neither her body nor her camera are facing them. She seems totally disconnected from the action.
Mary is very blurred in the Costella frame of 313, the fatal head shot, but 314 is better, so we'll use it as a surrogate.
You see Mary Moorman along the left edge, right? She's got her camera raised. But, where is she pointing it to? What exactly is she shooting? I flooded the image with light to get a better idea.
And here it is cropped and enlarged.
As I see it, she still does not appear to be aiming at the Kennedys. To me, it looks more like she is aiming her camera straight ahead at the motorcycle cop. But, if that's when she took the picture, how could she possibly have wound up with this?
I should point out that the Zapruder film was altered, and one theory has it that they separated the limo part from the distant part and then reconnected them, and the timing was skewed. Is that why Mary does not seem to be aiming her camera at the Kennedys? It would be a strange thing for her to do. But, in any case, as I have shown, it is impossible to correlate the Moorman photo with the Zapruder film.
Mary would have raised her camera to her face, readying to take the picture, in advance. And once she got it there, she would have snapped the picture as soon as possible. Why? Because everyone knows that when you try to stay still for too long, you start shaking. Your nerves get jumpy. You don't want to protract it any longer than necessary. Mary had her camera raised in perfect position to photograph the Kennedys at Z-293. Why would she wait well over one full second to take the picture?
