It's New Year's Day, a time to be happy; about choosing to be happy and and having a positive outlook. I know it's hard for some people this time around because they are worried about Trump being in charge, but hey, it's not like we're going to run out of food. So, ever the helpful one, I decided to find a song to lift people's spirits. And, the song I settled on is a real gem: Put On A Happy Face by the great Charles Strouse.
I already did a song of his, Once Upon A Time, which I think is one of the prettiest songs ever written. Well, this song is very nice too, and its title has become an adage. It was written for the 1960 Broadway musical Bye Bye Birdie, and it was first sung and danced to by Dick Van Dyke. But, stylistically, it's more like a song from the 1940s, and maybe even the 1920s, which is probably why I like it. And, its witty lyrics by Lee Adams deliver the cheer-up message perfectly.
So, here is my rendition of Put On A Happy Face with my very best wishes to you, and the JFK truth movement, for a great year in 2017.
