There are two things in Hoover's report about the Oswald shooting that just don't mesh. First, he said he was writing it 45 minutes after Oswald died. Oswald died at 1:07. So 45 minutes later would have been a few minutes before 2:00 Dallas time.

So, how would Hoover know that Ruby said that he "guessed" that his grief over the killing of the President made him go insane? Who would have reported that to Hoover? Fritz didn't start interviewing Ruby until 3:00 Dallas time. So, he didn't get it from Fritz.

The FBI has always maintained that they didn't have any agents on the scene of the Oswald shooting. I dare say they were lying because James Bookhout was an FBI agent, and he was the one pretending to be Jack Ruby. But, of course, they weren't going to admit that. And regardless, Bookhout didn't interrogate Ruby or attend any interrogations of Ruby.

I have said many times that Ruby got to the garage earlier than reported. He was swiftly pounced upon and hustled up to the 5th floor. Three Dallas detectives claim that they took him up there, Archer, McMillan and Clancy. And he was kept there, in his underwear, until 3:00 at which time he was taken to Fritz' office on the 3rd floor and interrogated by Fritz. But, before that, he was questioned some on the 5th floor by Secret Service Agent Forrest Sorrels.

There is no basis to assume that Hoover was ever in contact with Sorrels. Why would they be? So, how was it that prior to 2 PM Dallas time, J. Edgar Hoover, of the FBI, knew anything at all about what Jack Ruby said? Who would have told him?
