It's still the 4th of July weekend, and before it ends, I'd like to say something about the current political situation. People ask me whom I support: Trump or Biden, and I tell them neither. And that's because they're both suffering with senile dementia. I've worked in the health field my whole adult life, and I've seen a lot, and one thing I know is that aged-related decline is progressive. It only goes in one direction: from bad to worse. The next President would be in office until January 2025, and either one of them could deteriorate enormously by then. We're all basically dying. You get that, right?
So, I don't think either one of them is fit to start a new term as President in January. I won't be voting because I reject both candidates.
But, I will say that I think Trump is more vilified by the press, i.e. the mainstream media, than any other President- and by far.
So, why do they hate him so much? I'm sure there are multiple reasons. And keep in mind that he's done some things that I hate, such as the killing of Iranian General Soleimani and 9 Iraqis in January. That I think was barbaric. But, I don't think the media hates him for doing that. One of the things I think they hate him for is what he has done in Afghanistan, which is essentially admit defeat to the Taliban. He's given them everything they wanted. He's agreed to get every U.S.troop out of Afghanistan by April of next year- which is just 8 months from now. He committed the Afghan government to release 5 thousand Taliban fighters. He didn't even ask them. Does he not realize that there is still war going on between the Taliban and the Afghan government, and those fighters are just going to go back to fighting? And even though the Taliban has agreed to hold inter-Afghan talks, they're still going to insist on an Islamic government run by Sharia law. So, there is going to be an Islamic government again in Afghanistan, and the Taliban will have won- as much so as the Viet Cong won in Vietnam. I think Trump knows it, and he accepts it.
So, why does Trump accept it? He accepts it because he sincerely believes that it's not worth it for any more Americans to die over there. And I agree with him completely about that.
I made a film, My Stretch of Texas Ground, that is considered radical because it's anti-war; because it denounces the waging of war, particularly the war in Afghanistan. But, in light of what Trump has done, which is basically to say that no matter what happens, he does not want any more Americans getting killed over there, how radical is the film? It's not as radical as it used to be.
