The proof that what the British and Americans did during World War II, in targeting German civilians, was a war crime is that such actions were soundly condemned by the 4th Geneva Convention in 1949 and reinforced by the United Nations in 1993, stating that even non-signatory nations are obliged to follow it. In other words, if any nation on Earth waged war the way the UK and US did in WW2, they would be universally damned. Of course, even though the US became a signatory, we went on to kill millions more civilians in subsequent wars: in Korea, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Iraq, Afghanistan, etc. The truth is that U.S. militarism knows few bounds, and the idea that there has been anything honorable or glorious about any of our wars is an urban myth and a grotesque lie. We have been monsters.
