UN claims US Afghan strike violated international law
After a 4-month investigation, the UN has come up with a report on a May 5, 2018 US airstrike against a drug lab in western Afghanistan. The report finds that the attack violated international humanitarian law with 39 casualties including 14 children.
RC: The US responded to this with outrage, and it makes me wonder if it influenced Trump's recent decision to withhold paying dues to the U.N.
So, this was like the 9 wedding parties we bombed in Afghanistan, except that after each of them, we apologized for killing women and children. This time we didn't apologize.
So, this was like the 9 wedding parties we bombed in Afghanistan, except that after each of them, we apologized for killing women and children. This time we didn't apologize.
But whether we apologize or not, if we have a military objective and innocents have to die in order to accomplish it, then we are going to do it, and that has long been the policy of the U.S. Military. In My Stretch of Texas Ground, the Sheriff notes that
"When they bombed a restaurant in Baghdad trying to kill Saddam Hussein, they killed children. When they bombed a wedding party trying to kill the Taliban, they killed more."
He just referred to one wedding party, even though I was well aware that there were many.
Recently, the Taliban observed the 18th anniversary of the invasion of Afghanistan, and they, unflinchingly, denied the basis for the war.

The American invaders used the September incident as a pretext even as it had no relation with Afghanistan nor were any facilities present in Afghanistan where such actions could be organized and executed.
And regardless of what others think, there is no basis to think that the Taliban had any knowledge of or desire for the 9/11 attacks. There was nothing in it for them. It wasn't going to help them or Afghanistan. It's ridiculous to think that they would be involved in such a thing. For what? The satisfaction of it? The sheer joy? They were pretty busy at the time trying to run their country, and they were also involved in a simmering war with the "Northern Alliance" who were opposing them, which means that they were awfully busy at the time. The idea that they had any desire to crash planes into U.S. buildings is ridiculous.
Do you understand that right now, we are fighting and killing and also dying in Afghanistan, for one reason and one reason only: to hide the lie on which the whole war was based; the 9/11 lie? We are fighting to hide our own monstrous acts.
