US special representative on Afghan peace process Zalmay Khalilzad has said that America will reduce the cost of war in Afghanistan.
After a meeting with the new chairman of US joint chief of staff general Mark Milley, Khalilzad twitted: “We agreed that a political settlement that safeguards the homeland from terrorist threats, allows us to reduce the burden of war & protects two decades of progress in Afghanistan is in our national interest.”
RC: Zalmay Khalilzad is a talking robot. The idea that
"safeguarding the homeland" requires making sure that no cave, canyon, or courtyard in Afghanistan has anyone jabbering about harming the United States is just plain stupid. There is a big vast wide world out there, and the idea that conversations in this distant corner of it need to be surveilled and controlled in order for us to be safe is insane. The idea that it has any practical security value whatsoever is insane. The whole idea is based on nothing but echoing the fake, phony, and totally non-credible 9/11 narrative, and all for the sake of that bogus narrative- and nothing else.
And the only thing they are out to "protect" in Afghanistan is not "progress," but rather, two decades of rationalizing an attack and invasion of another country, half a world away, that should never have taken place. It is just excuse-making for a war that should never have happened. It is just excuse-making for a war, that was based utterly and totally on lies, that needs to be made to look like it was "worth the sacrifices," which is hopeless.
The war was a crime. Within the war, there were, and are, specific crimes- even lately. But, the whole war itself was a crime. The very act of crossing an ocean and two seas to attack that Third World country was a vicious crime. We are hanging on there to cover up our own criminality. We are hanging on there, looking for a palatable exit plan- one that will look good in the history books. That's what our mission in Afghanistan is today: facesaving.  Nothing else; just that.
