War is such an atrocious thing that it really does turn men into monsters. We often hear of World War II being described as the "good war" in contrast to Vietnam and other wars, but there is no truth to it. World War II was an abomination. You know about the killing of 70,000 civilians at Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and all to demonstrate to the Soviets the power of our atomic bomb. But, even before that, there was a policy to attack German civilians throughout the war. "Terror bombing" is how Germans described it, and I am referring to the firebombing of Dresden, Hamburg, and other cities. There was also a deliberate policy to starve German civilians. But, in addition to all that, there were also specific war crimes committed by the Allies, including the US.
This is a video about the Bascari masacres on Sicily in which Italian soldiers, who had surrendered, were executed by American soldiers, a total of about 70. And actually, there were more, but two men were charged with murder involving two incidents, and they were both tried and convicted. But, these cases were never made public, and one man, who got a life sentence, was summarily released to go back to war, which he survived and received an honorable discharge. The other man was also released to go back to war, but he got killed in combat. It wasn't made public until long after the war.
This is an animated video about it, but it's very good:

This is not unusual. It is not an exception. It happens in every war. It happened in the Iraq War with American soldiers committing rape, torture, and murder. It happened in Afghanistan to the extent that the International Criminal Court said it was going to investigate the U.S. for war crimes.
That is why you should never start a war, and why it is always a monstrous thing if you do start one, as George W. Bush did twice: in Afghanistan and Iraq, and both times, it was completely and totally unnecessary and illegal. But, the same goes for Obama and Hillary starting a war in Libya, which is now in civil war and is a hell zone. But, Americans are oblivious to it. They just don't realize the evil that the US government has done, and the death and misery that it has wrought.
