I am not aware that anyone has ever discussed the presence of the crude light image of a man, grossly enlarged, on the right side of the Jackson photo. It appears in two segments: the head above and the left shoulder below, and in-between them is Cigar Man.

First note that this kind of thing is very rare, in professional photography and even in amateur photography. Go through your family albums. See how many times it's happened. I suspect it's a nice round number. Second, what would cause it to be so light? Was he Casper the Friendly Ghost? What caused that effect? Was it Jackson's flash? Was that the idea? But, Jackson's flash was on the other side of the camera, the left side.

So, who could that man have been who encroached upon the image in the Jackson photo? The picture above of Jackson was taken shortly after the shooting. So, where was he before the shooting? Pretty much the same place, and I think I found him.

You can see the mounted flash mechanism in both pictures. What are the odds that it's someone else?

That is definitely Robert Jackson directly above, and again, I think the match is good. The time interval between those pictures is 20 seconds.

What led me to look for him was wanting to see if anyone was on his right who could have inadvertently encroached upon his camera field as we see in the Jackson photo, and there was not, as you can see above. And that means that this oddity must be some flim-flam that they added and easily could have done.

So, if this is Robert Jackson, there was no one on his right.

And that means that the weird anomaly in the Jackson photo is bogus.

What was the purpose of it? I suspect it concerns Cigar Man who is supposed to be Blackie Harrison but is clearly someone else.
