Trump really blew it. First, he couldn't tell us what the "imminent threat" was from Suleimani. Then yesterday, he said that the imminent threat was to blow up the U.S Embassy in Iraq. But, do you know what he actually said, that stupid moron? That blithering idiot who should never be put in front of a mic?  He said: "They were looking to blow up the U.S. Embassy."

They were looking to do it? We all know what that expression means. We've all used it. "I'm looking to buy beach-front property in Florida." If I say that, it doesn't mean I am imminently going to do it. It doesn't mean that I am ever going to do it. It doesn't mean that I am anywhere close to doing it. And it means, categorically, that it's NOT imminent.

This is a case in which a liar- and Trump is a pathological liar, and that was said about him even before he became President- feels guilty and reveals his guilt by softening the lie to saying that Suleimani was looking to do it.

But, in expressing it that way, he completely eviscerated the lie and exposed it. And then he tried to pile on. "We also did it for other reasons that were very obvious. Somebody died, one of our military people died. People were badly wounded just a week before."

It refers back to the militia rocket attack that killed an American contractor, but Iran denied having anything to do with that, and never has any evidence been provided that they were responsible.  And, if Suleimani was killed for that reason, then it wasn't because of an imminent attack, but rather, a past attack, which makes the whole "imminent attack" rhetoric all the more bogus.

Furthermore, the Embassy attack is complete and total bull shit. The U.S. Embassy in Iraq is the largest and most heavily fortified embassy in the entire world. It is a iron-clad fortress. If Suleimani was going to target Americans, he would surely pick an easier target than that.

And how was he supposed to do it? Suleimani had just flown in for meetings with the Prime Minister of Iraq. He was invited there. It was a State visit. He wasn't going to throw-in an attack on the U.S. Embassy.

And think about it: Suleimani was trying to win favor with Iraq. He was trying to forge a bond with them. He was trying to draw them away from us, from our orbit, and into the Iranian orbit. Bombing the U.S. Embassy was not going to help that. The Iraqis didn't want him to do that, and he had to know it.

And how could he bomb it anyway? He didn't bring any bombs with him or bombers.

The whole charge is just plain ridiculous, and one would have to be a complete moron to believe it. And on what intelligence is the claim based on?  Who told them that Suleimani was looking to blow up the Embassy? And what evidence was provided? Is there a tapped phone call in which Suleimani can be heard discussing it with someone? Is there a video tape of a Fatty Suleimani talking about it with anticipation?

The point is that just saying that Suleimani was looking to blow-up the U.S. Embassy is just a lip-flap. It has no evidentiary value or substance.   It is completely vacuous. By itself, it is just a lie because there is no distinguishing it from a lie.

And, it's a sign of desperation because he could have said that in the beginning. Why was it ever withheld? It has all the earmarks of a trapped witness on the witness stand suddenly changing his story.

For the first three days, Trump, Pompeo and Esper all sang the same siren song: imminent threat, imminent threat, imminent threat. They used that term in a hundred soundbites. And now, suddenly, Trump decides he's going to reveal the imminent threat? Why? It's obviously because of the backlash from the dissatisfaction and frustration that people had with the "imminent threat" mantra.  It dawned on people that the idea of Trump killing 10 people at an Iraqi airport, and some of them Iraqi officials, needed more than just a code-word to justify it. The entire reputation and perception of the United States around the world was at stake. It wasn't enough for Trump to claim it, he had to prove it.

And since Suleimani was just looking into blowing up the U.S. Embassy, why didn't the U.S. go to the Iraqis, show them the evidence, and let them arrest him?  We have solid evidence, right?

And then when Trump was probed for more details on the looking into, he said,  "I think it's obvious, if you look at the protests.” That's a reference to the recent violent protests at the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad, but that was Iraqis protesting. Suleimani wasn't there. To use that as a justification for killing Suleimani is insane.

Oh My God, so is Trump saying that it follows from those protests that Suleimani must have been planning to blow-up the U.S. Embassy? And you call that an imminent threat?

U.S. criminality is now exposed- and to all the world. This is a turning point, and there is no turning back. The impeachment needs to happen, and it needs to happen over this. Forget the other. This was savage, ruthless State murder. Trump, Pomeo, and Esper need to go to prison for the rest of their lives. No one should be able to get away with what they did. They committed an atrocity.
