Even in 2013 at the 50th, Mary demonstrated how she took her picture.

But, after showing that, they inserted a clicking sound and then jumped to this:

Yes! That is exactly right. That is the picture she surely wanted to take. It's not the picture that she took. But, neither is this:

This picture was taken from a diagonal angle from behind. Not only had the Kennedys passed the photographer, but so had the motorcycle cops. We're seeing Hargis and Chaney there, but the thumbprint is obscuring BJ Martin, who had also passed the photographer. The front wheel we see is Martin's front wheel, and he is sitting on his bike underneath that snow cover.

The photographer for whom this picture works perfectly is Babushka Lady.

So, what did Mary capture in her photo? Think about it. She said she took it right before the first shot. And like many people, she thought the throat shot was the first shot. The back shot, that hit Kennedy high on the hill, did not register as shot to her and to many others. So, if she took her photo right before the throat shot, it means Kennedy was reacting to just the back shot. And since the story was that there was no back shot until the throat shot, it was an unallowable image. It conflicted with the official story. And that's why they had to replace it.
