Ralph Cinque (to John McAdams, who denies there was a Chicago plot to kill Kennedy):

Why do you think they cancelled JFK's trip to Chicago to watch the Army/Navy football game?

John McAdams:

Because of the crisis resulting from the coup in Vietnam.

Well, isn't that special. But, don't you think a claim like that requires some substantiation? Because otherwise, it looks to me to be just an "unsupported assertion."

Here's a report from ABC News that recounts Abraham Bolden's claim.

http://abcnews.go.com/US/story?id=3902495&page=1

 It states:

"News reports stated that Kennedy didn't show because he was ill or because of a diplomatic crisis."

Because he was ill or because of a diplomatic crisis? Well, which one was it? Or was it a combination of both? It reminds me of reports about the deaths of James Altgens and his wife Clara. Did they die of gas poisoning? Or did they die from both being old, and both having the flu, and Clara having a heart condition? Or was it a combination of both? A little gas, a little old age, a little bit of flu, and together, it adds up to an explanation for them dying suddenly during the ARRB hearings.

But, the truth is that when you combine disparate reasons, it makes you look desperate. So, what was it? Illness or the diplomatic crisis? And they didn't say anything about Vietnam.

George HW Bush continued to play golf and go boating during the Iraq crisis.

Here's another report from ABC News about the Chicago plot.

Again, there is no mention of the coup in South Vietnam.

Here's another:

Provide me a link of someone besides John McAdams claiming that JFK's trip to Chicago was cancelled due to the coup in South Vietnam.

I'll help you get started. Here's the search results on Yahoo for: Why was JFK's trip to Chicago cancelled:

And here are the results on Google:

Quit hurling factoids, McAdams. It's unbecoming for a professor.
