It turns out this colorization was done by Martin Hinrichs not Robin Unger, but it is interesting that Martin did not attempt to color "dat bone" at the bottom.
You notice that the jacket was rendered light green, and the bone was left white. Here it is closer:
It's obvious that Martin agrees with me that the Boy's jacket ended at the sleeve, and the horizontal object going across remains a mystery as to what it is. Obviously, it would have to be an object between the boy and the two women in front of him, but what could it be? And what is holding it up? It's at the level of the women's faces, and they are both standing. So what is it? I suspect it's something related to the environment that the boy was in when the picture was taken. It wasn't Dealey Plaza.
