So, I was saying that there is no logical reason why Buell Frazier would try to watch the motorcade from back in the shadows. And remember that I have been there, and that doorway is like a freaking cave. The idea that someone would prefer to stay way back in the shadows is ridiculous. And thanks to the diligent work of Larry Rivera, we have visual confirmation that Frazier came forward and was standing in front of Doorman, who was Oswald:
For years, Robin Unger has been trying to say that that figure on the left was this petite little woman:
I don't know why these guys have so much trouble distinguishing men from women. That woman, by the way, wasn't even standing on the steps; she was standing on the sidewalk. Look at the length of legs on the man on the left. Look at the size of his hands. Look at his clothes. HE'S A MAN, ROBIN!
And think about it mathematically: what are the chances that there were TWO men who were both tall, slender, with short black hair, wearing a black jacket and light pants, and who worked for the Texas School Book Depository and were standing in that doorway? They're pretty darn remote.
But, why would Frazier say he was standing back in the shadows when he was actually down on the stairs?
Well, from the beginning, there was the discrepancy of him being missing from the Altgens photo. And that is all they went by- the Altgens photo. There was no mention of the Wiegman film, the Martin film, the Couch film, the Hughes film, the Darnell film, the Dallas PD footage or any other movie. Just think: the Warren Commission didn't even include the Zapruder film in their analysis of the JFK assassination. Not big movie fans those Warren commissioners.
So, Frazier is presented a photograph that he's supposed to be in, but he's not there.
This is where it gets interesting because we have to plumb the depths of Buell Frazier. What did he know, and when did he know it? What was his realization on November 22, 1963? And what was his realization of what was going on on July 24, 1964.
Well, on November 22, 1963, he had to know it was Oswald in the doorway. But, July 1964 was 8 months later. That's 8 months of being drilled that Oswald was not in the doorway, not in the doorway, not in the doorway. As recently as this July- July 2013- Frazier said that he was threatened and that his family was threatened. And he named someone who threatened him: Captain Will Fritz. Frazier was only 19 at the time, and I think it's a fair assessment to say that he sounded rather meek. But, I have no reason to think that he had any natural inclination to lie. He wasn't liar the way, say, bpete and Joseph Backes are liars. So, I'm saying that he may have coped with his predicament by adjusting his recollections and actually talking himself into believing- at least superficially- what he was saying. It happens.
It made no sense what he said. He contradicted himself. He said he was down on the steps, and he also said that he was back in the shadows. However, we should note that he made more references to the steps than the shadows. Then, in 1986, he had it that he was 4 steps ABOVE Doorman, which was impossible.
Was he outright lying or was he just confused?
Keep in mind that there are people, like Joseph Backes and bpete who lie without conscience. But, there are others who are uncomfortable about lying, who don't want to think of themselves as liars, and who may play mental games with themselves, where they talk themselves into believing the lie. I"m saying that that may be the case with Buell Frazier.
And what choice did he have at that hearing? He had said repeatedly that he was down on the steps, and then they show him a picture of the steps without him on it. Could he say: "Somebody must have taken me out of that picture."? I don't think so. This was like a Stalinist show trial. He wasn't confront Joseph Ball that way. Saying that he was back in the shadows was his way of reconciling it, of forcing a square peg into a round hole.
I've got more to say about this; stay with me. I'll be keeping these posts short.
