My Likes on Facebook have risen to the 250 mark. We are on a roll. People everywhere are realizing that Oswald was innocent- completely and totally innocent. And more and more of them are realizing that he was standing in the doorway at the time of Kennedy's murder.
Oswald did nothing wrong. He didn't kill Kennedy. He didn't kill Tippit. He didn't shoot at General Walker. And it is extremely unlikely that he pulled the trigger at any cop in the Texas Theater. Consider how their stories about that kept changing. And consider that, in effect, Oswald did deny it. These were his first words upon being arrested, recorded for all time:
I don't know why you are treating me like this. The only thing I have done is
carry a pistol into a movie. . . I don't see why you handcuffed me. . .
Why should I hide my face? I haven't done anything to be ashamed of. . . I want
a lawyer. . . I am not resisting arrest. . . I didn't kill anybody. . .
I haven't shot anybody. . . I protest this police brutality. . . I fought
back there, but I know I wasn't supposed to be carrying a gun. . . What
is this all about?"
I'm pretty sure that pointing a loaded gun at a policeman and pulling the trigger is considered resisting arrest and that Oswald knew it. If he had had done that then why would he have said, "I am not resisting arrest"? I realize that anybody can say anything; it's just a matter of moving one's lips. But, I suspect that if he knew he tried to shoot a policeman in the theater, he wouldn't have said anything about not resisting arrest. That's because it would only encourage someone to point out that he had tried to shoot a cop. Besides, to my ears, the above statement sounds very much like a spontaneous utterance, not a carefully crafted and cunning reply. I'm saying it was unfiltered, unscripted Lee Harvey Oswald speaking on the level.
Therefore, if nothing else, we should take the above statement as Oswald's denial of having fired his gun at any policeman.
Another reason to doubt it is that we have no reason to think that Oswald was an insane person. If you know you have done nothing wrong, why would you start by shooting a cop? How would that be in your best interest? How would it be in your interest at all? It's not as though shooting a cop would have enabled him to escape. Oswald was caught. He was utterly trapped. Cornered like a rat. Worse than a rat. You'd have to be crazy to shoot at a cop in a situation like that, and Oswald as not crazy.
I thank everyone who has given me a Like on Facebook.
