When it comes to the testimonies, you have to know how to read them. And you have to be honest; that's crucial.

The Warren Report has Lovelady saying that it was 3 or 4 minutes after the shooting before Gloria Calvary came up to them. Is that even possible? If it isn't possible, then you know it's wrong, and you have to go by other things.

Mr. LOVELADY - I thought it was firecrackers or somebody celebrating the arrival of the President. It didn't occur to me at first what had happened until this Gloria came running up to us and told us the President had been shot.

Now, you know that could not have been 3 or 4 minutes after the last shot because by 3 or 4 minutes after the last shot EVERYBODY knew what happened. There is NO CHANCE that Lovelady needed Gloria Calvary to tell him at that point. There is NO CHANCE he still thought it was firecrackers at that point.

Mr. BALL - When Gloria came up and said the President had been shot, Gloria Calvary, what did you do?
Mr. LOVELADY - Well, I asked who told her. She said he had been shot so we asked her was she for certain or just had she seen the shot hit him or--she said yes, she had been right close to it to see and she had saw the blood and knew he had been hit but didn't know how serious it was and so the crowd had started towards the railroad tracks back, you know, behind our building there and we run towards that little, old island and kind of down there in that little street. We went as far as the first tracks and everybody was hollering and crying and policemen started running out that way and we said we better get back into the building, so we went back into the west entrance on the back dock had that low ramp and went into the back dock back inside the building.

Is there any chance that 3 or 4 minutes after the last shot that Lovelady would have asked her if she was for certain? Of course not. It had to be much sooner than that.

And think about the circumstances. Gloria was down Elm pretty close to the President, and then she came up Elm and interacted with Lovelady. How do you use up 3 or 4 minutes to do that? You don't.

But, here's the clincher: Lovelady said that he saw Baker running into the building. That could have been no more than 20 seconds after the last shot. And his encounter with Gloria had to be before that.

Mr. BALL - By the time you left the steps had Mr. Truly entered the building?
Mr. LOVELADY - As we left the steps I would say we were at least 15. maybe 25. steps away from the building. I looked back and I saw him and the policeman running into the building.
Mr. BALL - How many steps?
Mr. LOVELADY - Twenty, 25.
Mr. BALL - Steps away and you looked back and saw him enter the building?
Mr. LOVELADY - Yes.

So, that means that you know that the whole 3 or 4 minute thing is bogus. Either he never said it, and they just put it in there to try to rectify the problem they had OR he was confused. But either way, you throw it out. Again, if you're honest; if you're not bloodied, you just dismiss it because you know that it can't possibly be right based on everything else.

And I shouldn't even have to explain this. If you're going to do this, you have to be honest, and you have to know how to think.
