No, Backes. What I said is that she was never waving with her arm outside the car. In this picture, she's not waving her arm at all; she's resting her hand.
These idiots think they can win on a technicality. Because, technically, the tips of her finger, as pressed to the outside of the window frame constitutes being "outside" they think it's a touchdown for them. It's totally irrelevant. It has nothing to do with this:
One thing is for absolute certain, and that is TIME's intention. What were they trying to show? They were trying to show JFK waving with his right arm and Jackie doing likewise. You might say they're like twins. It's the whole message of the picture. If she were raising her left arm, how could it possibly be continuous with his?
Repeat: If she were swinging her left arm up from her left side as he was raising his right arm, how could they possibly align like that? It is impossible.
Jackie NEVER waved her arm where her hand was in the air outside the car. In this image, what she was essentially doing was just resting her hand on the ledge of the car. That's the action.
She's resting her hand on the ledge, and the fact that the tips of her fingers get to the outside of the frame means nothing. It has no significance at all. It has nothing to do with this:
