Here is a story element that may never have been done before in the history of film. Abdul Latif Hassan goes to the Capitol to attend the press conference of Senator Harlan Cruthers- his target. He is pretending to be a reporter from the Charlotte Observer. But, afterward, he literally bumps into the real reporter from that paper. And on the spot, he has to make up a story about why he is there. Then, he lures her into going with him to his remotely parked car, supposedly to get an envelope from their boss, and along the way, he has to talk to her as if he knows the people she knows, etc., when actually, he doesn't know anything. He is winging it. Sharp guy this Hassan, and I am proud of the writing.
Here he is manipulating her, lying through his teeth, and she has no idea because he's got a cogent answer for everything she throws at him.
Clarisse: Have you met Jane, the office manager?
Hassan: Have I met her? Jane is not the kind of woman who fails to make an impression.
