How do you think Oswald would have reacted if he found out that Dallas Police and the Secret Service confiscated his wife? They did that on Saturday afternoon. They waited until after she visited Oswald. They weren't going to risk her telling him. But then, they moved her out of Ruth Paine's and into the Inn of the Six Flags.
And before you answer the question, recall how he reacted when he found out the FBI had talked to his wife. He stormed into the FBI office and made a ruckus. Apparently, he made some threats. And he took it out on Agent Hosty at the first interrogation. There he was being charged with double murder, but what he wanted to talk to Hosty about was the visit he made to his wife.
I presume all will agree that Oswald would not have liked it.
Furthermore, how would it have looked in court? We have spousal privilege in this country. A wife does not have to testify against her husband. How were they going to prosecute Oswald when they had taken his wife into custody?
But, you see, they knew it wasn't going to be a problem because they knew that Oswald was going to be killed the next day. They knew that the Dallas Police were going to kill Oswald and trick the deranged Jack Ruby into believing that he did it. And that is exactly what happened.
