- Paul Carpenter Both died same time in different rooms. Yes, that is rare, Apparently neither one tried to get out.. I have heard of multiple deaths from CO, but those have usually involved automobiles running in an attached garage with victims sleeping and that was not the case with the Altgens. Would like to know inquest results but I find nothing. I did not mean to suggest the Altgens died of influenza.
- Ralph Cinque What I found out is that the number of people who die each year from carbon monoxide poisoning due to faulty furnaces is extremely small. And most of them involve indigent situations where there's a broken down trailer and unmaintained equipment. The Altgens were wealthy, and they lived in the poshest neighborhood in Dallas, you might say the Beverly Hills of Dallas. It was not the kind of place where this very rare event usually happens. And that's a good word: inquest. THERE SHOULD HAVE BEEN ONE. Instead, the whole thing was hush-hushed. It stinks.
- Ralph Cinque Right after the tragedy, the nephew on the wife's side, issued a statement that his Aunt Clara had been ailing for some time with heart problems. But, what did that have to do with Uncle Ike? Why should he die at the same time? He was only 76. Again: it stinks.
