The paper bag was invented in 1852 by Francis Walle, a schoolteacher. But, it was 19 years in 1871 that a critical innovation was added- one which multiplied the usefulness and effectiveness of paper bags immensely: the flat bottom. That's what provides the bag both its spaciousness and its strength. And it was a woman who invented it: Margaret Knight. And then, 1883, Charles Stilwell came up with the idea for pleated sides which made the paper bag easy to fold, store, and ship. And that pretty much completed the development of the modern paper bag.

Hey! You want to make a paper bag yourself? Here's a webpage that shows you how to do it- in 13 easy steps:

But, let's be clear: they are talking about a small bag, not a big one like the one Oswald made. And they are also talking about a regular rectangular bag, not a pyramidal-shaped like the one Oswald made. And that has got to be 100X harder because you're talking making diagonal cuts. Oswald's bag wasn't square. It was wide at the bottom and very narrow at the top. And the great length of the bag made it very unwieldy to work with.

But, what's amazing is that Lee Harvey Oswald, with just shipping paper, produced in one sitting, with no prior experience or training, a perfectly modern paper bag, all on his own, and strong enough to carry a rifle without tearing- even though it was just paper.

That is a perfectly modern paper bag. You can see the flat bottom, which is made out of reinforced material. And you can tell that it's pleated. You can tell that it's pleated because it wouldn't fold like that into a neat panel-like shape unless it was pleated.

What holds the pieces of a paper bag together? Glue. So, obviously Oswald had to have the proper glue too. Look at the picture again.

Now, listen to me because I'm going to tell you something:

Anyone, on this planet, who says that Lee Harvey Oswald made that bag- constructed it- from shipping paper at the Texas Book Depository is not only swimming in the blood of John Kennedy and Lee Oswald and numerous others, but he is drowning it. He is gagging, choking, struggling, his lungs permeated with the blood of John Kennedy, Lee Oswald, and numerous, countless others. where it is a crimson sea of blood in which he is drowning, with no glimpse of land in sight, and the only sound being the shill wailing cries of his victims that still persist and will always persist.
