I did some doctoring of Jackie's image myself. I don't have Photoshop, so I used a combination of Paint and Picasa to bring it to what you see above. At least her arm looks intact. Here is the original.
Realize that in this case color isn't just color; it is form. When a child colors in a coloring book, there is a black outline around the objects which the child is filling in. But, in this case, there is no black outline; there is only the color. So, when you apply color, you are determining form.
And that's why I am completely opposed to photoshopping historic photos and especially forensic photos. There is a big debate about whether classic black and white movies should be colorized, such as Casablanca. In that debate, I'm on the side of not doing it. But, in this case, I don't even think there should be a debate. This is evidence in a murder case, and they shouldn't be altering evidence.
