Professor Jim Fetzer has informed me that it has been well known by researchers for many years that the Stemmons freeway sign in the Zapruder film was manipulated. This image of the sign I got from his video.

Notice that the sign looks to be perpendicular to the road, as I said. I think everyone looking at it would be satisfied that that is perpendicular.  But, here's how it looks in the Z film:

Now, you can't go from one to the other by turning it. You can turn a real sign in real life, but you cannot turn a sign in an image. So the above sign must be art. It must be paint. That's how they did it in those days since they didn't have Photoshop. So, that wrongly facing sign must have been fabricated. But, also compare the distance down the hill. The real sign was farther down the hill. They moved it up in the Zapruder film.

So, there are two issues about the sign. The first is that the angle of it is wrong; it is facing the street too much instead of being perpendicular to it. The second is that it is higher up on Elm Street than it was, so higher on the hill, closer to the intersection.

You can't turn a sign in a photograph. So, that has to be a different sign, a fabricated one. And as for the real sign, after that, the film loses sight of the sidewalk and grass on the other side.

So, the sign is on the left. Kennedy is reacting to being shot. And that man on the sidewalk, who is apparently African-American wearing a long-sleeved white or light-colored shirt is the last spectator we see on that side of the street. It would be good if we found him in another film or photo. But, the point is that there were no worries about the real sign because it's out of frame from this point on.
