Then, he points out that the declining angle is only about 3 degrees, which doesn't sound like much. However, the declining angle of Elm Street varies. It's not like a slide that has one constant angle. So, at the top of Dealey Plaza, the decline is less, and also at the bottom it levels off. It's the mid-section that the angle is steepest. Furthermore, a 3% grade means that the road drops 3 feet for every 100 feet. That is a significant grade. For many municipalities, a 3% grade is the defining grade for which you have to turn your wheels into the curb if you're parked there- or else you can be ticketed.
Besides, many of us have been there; we know how steep it is.
Compare these two versions of the Moorman photo:
The top one is cropped while the bottom one is whole. It's slightly angled though. Look at the bottom margin of the photo. It was done by someone else, not by me or Larry, but notice that you get a better since of them going downhill. The cop at the right-rear stands out as being elevated compared to Kennedy, and it does look like he could be in the way of a shot coming from the Sniper's Nest. The thought occurs. And as Larry pointed out to me, that is exactly why they placed those motorcycle cops in those spots. They're there, in effect, to take a bullet for the President, if necessary.
