I just finished reading about the life of Lana Turner, and I learned that she was a heavy smoker, and she was often photographed with a cigarette in her hand, but, they often airbrushed the cigarette out of her hand.

That had to be the 1940s and early 1950s, which were her heyday. 

So, if they could do that back then, by 1963, they could certainly make alterations to the Altgens photo that were comparable and even better. 


And, I'm sure they had the most advanced, most sophisticated team of photo alterers in the world working on the Altgens photo.
