So, the distance from the ground to the top of the windshield was 58 inches. 

Let's just round it off to 60 inches, which is 5 feet. So, where are his hands located in the 5 foot span between the ground and the top of the windshield? I would say from looking that it was right about 2 feet down. It's definitely not half-way down, which would be 2 1/2 feet. But, it's more than 18 inches. So, if it were 2 feet, then the height from the ground to his hands would be right about 3 feet up from the ground.
