The prominent cords on the back of the hand are the extensor tendons. The arrows point to the extensor tendons of the index finger and the thumb. If you follow the extensor tendon of the index finger, you can see that it it forms a continuous line. But, the extensor tendon of the thumb has no connection to the thumb that is showing. It is completely unrelated to it. The thumb that went with that hand was taken out, and that other weird thumb was placed in there in a weird photographic surgery. Dr. Frankenstein had nothing on the guy who did that.
