Here is a goofy chart from the CDC, distinguishing Covid from the flu. They're almost exactly the same.

So, the difference is that loss of taste and smell listed for Covid is replaced by runny or stuffy nose for flu. But, loss of taste and smell can occur from flu and from colds. Here is an article about it from 2016.

The chart indicates that Cough is the first symptom of flu. I fortunately, haven't had the flu in a great many years, but that's not how I remember it. I remember it starting with malaise and tiredness and loss of appetite, and then fever, and then cough. I don't remember it starting with cough. Anyone who puts any stock in this ridiculous display is just a mentally submissive and compliant person who has way, way, way too much respect for authority.

Besides, the number one symptom of Covid isn't any of those things. Don't you know what it is? It's a positive Covid test.
