The 11 year old girl was Toni Glover, and she was with her mother. Here they are in Dorman:

Here they are in Bell.

It looks to me like they are both up on that pedestal, and Toni is behind her mother with her arms wrapped around her. 

Here she is in Hughes:

So, is that the mother's hair in front of her? I don't believe anyone, until now, has acknowledged the mother being up on the pedestal with her. 

Of course, the above is a highly photoshopped image, but I don't believe you see the mother at all when you watch the Hughes film, at least not in any versions I've seen.
