What was life really like in Libya under Muammar Gaddafi? Here is a list of his atrocities:
1. There was no electricity bill in Libya. Electricity was free for all citizens.
2. There was no interest on loans. The state banks gave loans to all citizens at zero percent interest by law.
3. Having a home was considered a human right in Libya.
4. All newlyweds in Libya received $ 20,000. This money should allow people to buy their first home. The government wanted to contribute to the start of a family.
5. Education and medical treatments were free in Libya. Before Gaddafi came to power, only 25 percent of Libyans could read. Today, the number is 83 percent.
6. If Libyans wanted to make a career in agriculture, they got farmland, a farmhouse, equipment, seeds, and livestock as a quick start to their farms, all for free.
7. If Libyans could not find any training or medical facilities they needed, they would be able to go abroad with the help of state funds. They were paid $ 2,300 a month for accommodation and car.
8. When a Libyan bought a car, the government subsidized 50 percent of the price.
9. The price of gas in Libya was $ 0.14 ( 0.12 Euros) per liter.
10. If a Libyan did not get a job after graduation, the state paid the average salary of the profession in which he sought work until a suitably skilled job was found.
11. Libya has no foreign debt and its reserves of $ 150 billion are now frozen worldwide and probably lost forever.
12. A portion of every Libyan oil sale was credited directly to the accounts of all Libyan citizens.
13. Mothers giving birth gave $ 5,000
14. Libyans had the highest standard of living in all of Africa, the longest life expectancy, the best health care, and the best nutrition.
Do you have any idea what a hell-hole Libya is today with Gaddafi long gone? Besides the abject poverty, it's in a state of perpetual war.
And people talk about Barrack Obama like he was that good President that we all miss so much. We haven't had a good President since John F. Kennedy, and you know what they did to him.
