So, here is what I think happened: You've got the film which was altered. But then you've got the still frame from the film which was altered some more.

The still frame from the film would look like crap by itself. What they're showing us as the still frame from the film was greatly enhanced. It's like digital art. Somebody photoshopped it- a lot.

The way to tell is to look at them both at the same time and compare.  First, fix your eyes on the Woman and Baby in the film. See what there is to them, especially the Woman. Then look at her in the still frame.

Can you see that it looks like somebody took some paint and a paintbrush and enhanced the colors in the still frame? In the film, you see her flicking hand, and you see her h-shaped black form, but it isn't nearly as substantial. In the still frame, they converted her flicking hand into a halo atop her head. You see her big fat face sitting right on top of her chest. It's all very neat, but it's also freaky. The image above has been photoshopped to enhance the color. There is no version of the Towner film that is anywhere near as rich and vivid and deeply toned as that. It's been photoshopped. It's been photoshopped. It's a photoshop fakery.
