Oh God, it's getting worse. Now, it's not just our embassy, it's embassies, plural. Pompeo said there was an "imminent threat of an attack on U.S. embassies."

And it's not just our embassies: it's "American embassies, American military bases, and American facilities throughout the region."

How could Suleimani attack our embassies? We don't have one in Iran. We have one in Iraq, but all Suleimani could do is marshal his Shite supporters in Iraq to do it. He wasn't going to march the Iranian Army in there, was he?

And where else but Iraq? Syria? Trump pulled us out of Syria, remember?  Saudi Arabia? We have an embassy there and some troops, but it's a Sunni country, and Suleimani was a Shite. He had no ability to attack us there. Afghanistan? The Taliban neither needs nor wants Suleimani's help. They can attack Americans all by themselves.

Last night, Pompeo told Laura Ingraham that Soleimani was planning "a series of imminent attacks, but we don't know precisely when, and we don't know precisely where."

Well, when you don't know precisely when or when, you don't know precisely that.

What if a woman told you, "My wedding to Charlie is imminent, but I don't know precisely when it's going to be or where it's going to be." Then Sweetheart, you can't say your wedding to him is imminent.

Everyone knows from life experience that when you don't know the where and when, that whatever it is can't be imminent. Imminence refers to time, and it takes time to determine where and when, and until it's decided, the whole thing is very much an "if."

And if by "throughout the region" Pompeo meant that there were going to be multiple, simultaneous attacks that only turns the whole fish story into more of a whopper.

And why didn't Pompeo take it to the Iraqi government?  Since it would have been Iraqi militias doing it, wasn't it their province and responsibility?

Meanwhile, Iraq has formally demanded that the U.S. get out of their country, and the U.S. State Department has flatly refused. Wow. That is an international crisis in itself.

Then, Trump triple-downed on the "imminent" attack, saying that it was "probably" going to be at our Baghdad embassy "and four other embassies." Do you realize how scatterbrained that is? Do you realize the irreparable harm that has been done?  In one stroke, the United States has become a terrorist nation to people the world over.

In My Stretch of Texas Ground, Abdul Latif Hassan, in his speech to the world, refers to America as "one terrorist nation" and that is exactly how the world is perceiving the United States now. Life is imitating art, and the damage is irreparable.
