OK, let's knock Joseph Backes out quickly this evening:
1) the very word "arch" implies a curved structure. This is in reference to the Roman arches:
"Before the invention of the arch, the only way to span a gap was with a wooden or stone beam between two supports. Using this method, there is a limit to the width that can be spanned because a flat beam bends in the middle. Using an arch (the first being the Roman arch) the hemispherical shape allows for a wider span because of the greater strength of the arch at all points in the span."
But, the TSBD had only a horizontal beam going across the opening, so it was not technically an arch, and it certainly was not a proscenium arch. Joseph Backes is the only human in the history of the world to ever refer to the front of the TSBD as a proscenium arch.
2) I never said the building could not cast a shadow. I said the building could not cast a round, circumscribed shadow. I said that a shadow from the building would not be circumscribed; it would be linear. With Black Hole Man we are dealing with an area of shadow that was limited to his round face. (We can ignore the small shadow on his shoulder cast by his arm, which is irrelevant.)
Here's another way of looking at it. The top of his chest is in the light, right? Place one hand on the top of your chest and the other on your nose. Which is more forward? You don't have to look because your proprioception tells you. The hand on your nose is more forward because your nose hangs out in front of the top of your chest. Well, if BH Man's chest was in the light, then his nose should have been in the light too because his nose had to be forward of his chest. Look at it in profile.
So, his nose extends in front of his chest. So, if the top of BH Man's chest is in the light, where the light is streaming in from the direction that he is facing, then his nose should definitely be visible. But, it's not.
In the picture Backes posted of me, he points to shadow on my face. But, it didn't obscure my whole face. Some of my face is in shadow, and some of my face is in light, but we can still see my whole face. So, there is no parallel between these two:
Here's an idea, Backes. Actually come up with a photo that looks like Black Hole Man, and then you'll have something.
No, Backes, shadows don't occupy space. This is from Wiki Answers:
You're stupid, Backes. And the only thing you are consistent about is that you never apologize and you never admit that you are wrong, even though you always are. At least, in every one of our battles you have been.
And no, Backes. The sun wasn't entering the doorway from a northwest angle. It was entering from a southwest angle. The tall building was behind the doorway- north of it. So, no light could enter the doorway from that direction, except for man-made light. At 12:30 PM on November 22, the sun was located to the south and west of that doorway. Hence, sunlight was entering the doorway from a southwest angle.
You're stupid, Backes! You're just a complete moron. You don't know anything about anything. You are an expert on nothing. You don't even know how to think. Go back to your parking meter job or whatever you do as a civil servant, and get out of my face.
