The horizontal span above the TSBD doorway was certainly not a proscenium arch, but I do not favor calling it an arch at all because it lacks any curvature; that is: it isn't arched.
Here is the definition of arch from Merriam-Webster:
They went on to mention the arch of the foot and anything with a curve. It was the Romans who were famous for building with arches, such as these.
So, what we have at the TSBD is just the horizontal span of the top of the doorway. That's what I'd call it: a horizontal span.
And being horizontal, it can't cast a circular, circumscribed shadow. If you look at Black Hole Man, you can see that his arms are not in shadow.
You can see his arms are illuminated. But, a shadow being cast by the building would surely cut through his arms. There is no way that the building could cast a shadow that was limited to his round face.
Furthermore, he has got his hands up vizoring his eyes. He's doing that because the sun was streaming into his eyes. And believe me, I know because I have stood there in that spot on a sunny day in late November, and I felt the same discomfort from the strong rays of the sun. His act of vizoring his eyes is evidence that light was reaching his eyes - necessitating the vizoring - which means that the building wasn't shading them.
So, it is simply ridiculous to think that the "arch" had anything to do with the blacking out of BH Man's face. It's just a stupid Backesism.
If we use the WC image of the empty doorway, I have put an X where BH Man was standing, and as you can see, there was no shadow from the building occurring at that spot.
So, it means that the only thing that can be used to account for the blacking-out in shadow of BH Man's face is his hands above. However, hands aren't large enough to cast a shadow large enough to blacken out an entire face.
Here is a woman doing it with just one hand, but she is covering the whole expanse of her forehead, and as you can see: the bottom part of her face is still in bright light.
And note that she has really got her hand low, barely above her eyes. It's must lower than where BH Man has his two hands.
Likewise this boy is not obliterating the light to his face with his hand.
It's similar here with the man. It's absurd to think that someone could blacken out his entire face with their hand or hands. Therefore, this image of Black Hole Man is definitely a bogus image.
There is no other image like that in the entire history of photography going back to the 1820s. He's like the Headless Horseman, but without the horse and the pumpkin and the sword.
Black Hole Man is a bogus image, and he is one of the first anomalies we recognized in the Altgens photo. Here is how we have him written up on the Anomalies page of the OIC website:
(1) Black Hole Man is so named because his head is like a black hole from space---where light cannot enter. It's rather strange to see a headless person, but what makes this image even more strange is that he is using his hands to block the glare from the sun. Why would he have to do that if his eyes were in utter darkness? The woman below him is doing that with one hand, but we can still see her face. And considering how far out his elbows are, we don't think his arms are blocking the light from reaching his face either. But, the crucial thing is that there must have been some light reaching his eyes if he needed to use his hands as a vizor to block the light. And despite the vizoring he is doing, the lower part of his face would definitely be in light. His hands could not cast a shadow large enough to blacken his whole face including his chin. There is no way his entire face could be obliterated by what we're seeing. We assert that his face was blackened out deliberately to hide his identity. Was he the real Billy Lovelady? That is our contention.
To my enemies I say: save your lip-flapping excuses. Instead, produce another image of a person whose entire face was blackened out in this manner. Better yet, take out a camera and get busy shooting your own pictures which demonstrate it. Your lip-flapping excuses do nothing but spew your own spittle along with the blood of John Kennedy, of which you are soaked.
