A bench is a bench is a bench, and it's a straight thing. It is not angled or L-shaped. Therefore, the people sitting on it are going to be lined up, and they are going to look lined up- regardless of the angle at which they are seen.
Johnson ducked, and he started ducking before the first shot. In the Altgens photo, we can see where he should be, but he's not there. That's because he ducked.
And the phone conversation he had with J. Edgar Hoover the day after the assassination, which was recorded, was very telling. Johnson asked Hoover if any of the shots were directed at him. Hoover said no. But, why would Johnson even ask when he was involved in the assassination himself? Deeply involved.
It may be that Johnson knew that the conversation was being recorded and he thought it would make him look naive and innocent if he asked that. But, another possibility is that he may have feared that other high level participants in the assassination may have thought they could get two for the price of one. Maybe he feared that other kingpins thought that House Speaker John McCormack, who was a hawk on Vietnam, would serve their interests better. McCormack certainly had less baggage.
But regardless, LBJ ducked; he took cover; and he did so before the very first shot. He knew what was coming.
