Having slept on it, I think that typed statement of Lovelady's, which Backes posted, is absolutely riveting. 

There is absolutely no doubt that Doorman was in the center. We can see him in the center in the Wiegman film.

And remember that I stood in that doorway seeking to recreate the visibility that Doorman had in the Altgens photo, and what I found out is that I had to stand in the center of the doorway- actually 2 or 3 inches west of where the center handrail was- in order to do it. But, it was essentially the center, just as we see above. So, I confirmed what we see in the Wiegman film- not that it needed confirming. 

So, what did Lovelady mean? He may not have meant anything. It may have been that the FBI agent put that in about being on the far right because that's where Doorman appears to be in the Altgens photo.

Do you see how Doorman's right shoulder appears to be tucked behind the right column? If you didn't know better, you'd think he was right next to that wall. The FBI agent didn't know better. Neither did Joseph Ball because he too referred to the spectator being next to the wall. He was in the center, and there is no doubt about it. 

But, Lovelady was at the far side of the entranceway- the left side as he came out the door. He was Black Hole Man, as he indicated in CE 369.

That's the tail of the arrow he drew. The head of it was drawn in the black space. And believe me, he was next to the wall- the east wall. That doorway is small and narrow- so narrow that he had to be next to the east wall. 

So, the FBI agent was correct that Lovelady was next to a wall- the left wall. If he had used the word "left" instead of "right" he'd have been accurate. 

But, could it have been a "left/right" discrepancy? Left and right are always about perspective. From Lovelady's perspective coming out the door, he moved to his left. But, his position relative to our perspective in looking at the Altgens photo is to see him on the right. The letter didn't actually mention the Altgens photo, but that doesn't mean they didn't talk about it. This may have been a clever trick on the part of the FBI agent to confuse what Lovelady said. 

And when did Lovelady make his statement? We know he went to see the FBI on February 29 when pictures were taken. He must have been interviewed then. The letter is dated March 19, but was that the date of the interview or the date the letter was signed? 

Lovelady didn't type the letter. The letter was prepared by the FBI. It must have been prepared from questioning that took place and perhaps earlier. There may have been a time lag between the two, and there probably was. 

So, by the time Lovelady signed it, the issue of "right" and "left" and what their perspective was at the time may have been out of mind. 

But regardless, Doorman was definitely in the very center of the doorway and not to the far side- neither side- and not against either wall.  And that rules Lovelady out to be Doorman.
