BJ Martin was riding a motorcycle, and both of his arms were extended forward in the same plane, such that from the street, where Mary Moorman was, his arms were lined up. Mary Moorman was looking at him from where the arrow is pointing. Obviously, she was going to see his left arm. It is not clear whether she would see his right arm at all or if it would be blocked from view, but she would definitely see his left arm because it was right there in front of her and nothing was blocking its visibility. That is true to her eyes and to the eye of her camera.  Any photo that she took would definitely have captured his left arm. So, what we see in the Moorman photo (his right arm alone) must be false.
